The teachers' call for a return to the old liberal-and-conservative values was made at a January 21 event held at the College. The event marked the return of former Harvard Law dean David B. White to a life as an activist for social justice based on that belief.

This fall, after President Obama delivered remarks on "Making America Work For Everyone," Black Lives Matter activists took to social media to voice their concern that a President Obama's support for anti-civil rights legislation (Bill Emancipation Proclamation) and a federal civil rights Act that aims to end race and class segregation will be a prime example of how such views can influence what's taught to students at the higher level like history professors.

The teachers, known collectively as #BlackLivesMatter, held a "Free Speech Rally" on Saturday to address students against this legislation and how they are fighting back against the "whites only agenda."

The president has also been supporting white supremacy at Harvard Law School, though he didn't explain why he was making such a pledge. A civil rights law professor is currently arguing that student protestors can speak out against the legislation from within their own fraternity, and students will continue fighting the law
