The fact is that Lord Byron does not really "say anything" about God in the book, he says he wants to say "good luck". To "give them happy luck" is to express that God is pleased and happy with the couple. There is no mention in the Lord's Gospel of Songs in the introduction of Byron that he believes God will win against what he likes.
