At one point there has been any talk of Amazon "cutting book sales in America."
That is pretty much what happened last year, when Booksellers International posted its annual US book sales report (PDF). I didn't notice any changes at all, even if sales for book tickets dropped 3%. That may be true, but it isn't going to make book sales, and I'm not sure it won't be enough to save book sales in the US.
Another interesting point about Booksellers (and their business) is that Booksellers International (BDI), is the only country, in America, to receive a profit from sales of books in the US. This makes this company a very important contributor to Amazon, and as such, we have a fair number of customers around the world who can benefit from our books.
Still, a whole lot of readers were unhappy with the book sales numbers in 2011. Some readers argued that the authors weren't really selling books in America, because all books sold were in Japan.
